Motorola Blog Changes – Media Experiences 2 Go

If you visit this site regularly you’ll notice that the look and name have changed. (Kind of hard to make a subtle transition…) As of right now, you can still access this site via the connectedhome2go.com URL (RSS feeds still work too), but you can also access it from mediaexperiences2go.com.

We’ve changed the blog name in large part to reflect the fact that the business it represents has evolved from Connected Home Solutions to Home and Networks Mobility (H&NM). The substantive difference here is that the H&NM group within Motorola combines both home broadband technologies and network technologies like WiMAX.

You’re going to see more changes in 2008 too, with a preview next week. Expect more executives dropping in on the blog, expanded content and (hopefully) some video where relevant. I’ll also be blogging CES again this year.

Is there anything you’d like to see on this blog in 2008? Keep in mind I’m pretty low on the Motorola totem pole, but I try to make up for it in scrappiness. If there’s something you want to see, I’ll do my best to dig for the content.

Thanks for reading. I appreciate the support throughout 2007.

  1. The new name isn’t a big deal, but I think that I preferred Connected Home, it seemed like a better description for where Motorola is heading, whether you include the modems or not. As far as things that I’d like to see in 08′ . . . It would be neat if you had more Q&A with some of your engineers. I really enjoy being able to ask specific questions about technology and hear an answer from someone who is working with the technology hands on.

I’d also like to find out more about some of the RFID stuff that Motorola Ventures has been investing in. Whether it was the Symbol acquisition, their VivoTech investment or today’s funding announcement for Intelliflex, they’ve been making some interesting purchases and I’d like to know more about how they plan on bringing micropayment RFID transactions to Motorola cell phones.

  2. I am *definitely* working to get more engineer Q&As. Any specific topics you’re interested in?

Regarding RFID, it doesn’t really fall under the Home and Networks Mobility business, but I’ll do some digging anyway. If not for here, maybe I can get someone to make an appearance over on ZNF. :)
