Motorola KreaTV Software for IPTV

motorola-kreatv-software-iptv-set-tops.jpg

A quick note about the Motorola KreaTV software I referenced yesterday. I spoke recently to Motorola’s Doug Means, general manager for the IP Video Solutions business, and discovered that the KreaTV software has actually been deployed now in North America. Previously it had only been seen abroad, but Motorola announced availability here back in June. Now it turns out that deployments started last month.

Broadly speaking, the KreaTV software is only aimed at tier-2 telecom customers deploying IPTV. (Motorola partners with Microsoft for the big carriers including AT&T.) It’s an open platform, meaning applications can come from virtually anywhere.

  1. Please bring this product to upstate South Carolina. We are sick to death of AT&T and Charter and their shoddy, third-rate products. Also are you looking to have affiliate websites promoting your products?

  2. Motorola works with a huge range of operators (including AT&T), and in each case the experience you’re getting is a combination of both the hardware and the software being used. If an operator wants the KreaTV software mentioned here, Motorola will sell it to that provider – in South Carolina, South Dakota, or wherever. However, there is unlikely to be a small IPTV provider in your area if AT&T and a major cable operator like Charter already present. More info on deployments should come in the future.
