Here’s a quick video snippet of Motorola’s Mike Patrick talking about why there should be no DOCSIS 4.0. Mike Patrick is one of those engineers who are not only brilliant, but willing to share knowledge as long as you’re willing to listen. In the lab yesterday, I peppered him with questions about the new TX32 and Motorola’s DOCSIS IPTV bypass architecture. The background noise there was too loud for amateur video equipment, but I will be writing more on those conversations soon. In the meantime, enjoy the DOCSIS 4.0 commentary. Bottom line: Mike believes there should be incremental feature upgrades to DOCSIS 3.0 in the future rather than a whole new iteration of the standard.
