There was a packed house for Leslie Ellis’ panel this morning on tru2way and interactive television. She moderated with representatives from Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Cox on hand.
Three notes of particular interest:
- There were a lot of comparisons and references to Canoe in the tru2way discussions, suggesting there is a lot going on behind the scenes with the MSOs.
- The topic of DOCSIS Set-Top Gateway (DSG) came up, with the general consensus seeming to be that DSG is going to remain a channel for transporting applications, not Internet content, in the near term.
- Time Warner previewed its Symphony guide, which included new forms of channel browsing, ad telescoping and widgets – hopefully a realistic preview of tru2way apps to come.
