Looking for an exhaustive list of this fall’s season premieres on TV? Brent Evans of GeekTonic has it. Including start dates and times, relevant notes, and an accounting of everything that’s available in high-definition. According to Brent’s records, 80 season premieres this fall are being broadcast in HD.
On the one hand you have to figure that the early-adopter market, the easiest one to snag, has already been captured by those with HD wares to sell (content, services, devices). On the other hand, we have an FCC inflection point coming up that’s likely to see a wave of new HD converts. The market is only going to get bigger with the digital TV transition as folks decide it’s finally the right time to shell out money for a new set. I wonder how many HD premieres we’ll see next fall. 100? 120?

I think/hope within a year we’ll see 99% of the new shows in HD.
A questionable decision on which shows to air in HD:
Why HD for “Cops”, but no HD for “Amazing Race?”
“Why does “CNNHD” have more aired in HD then “SciFiHD?”
Thanks for the link by the way!
Of course! Great list. And I think you’re probably right about the high percentage of HD shows likely next year. I think 2009 is the tipping point for HD.
