With WiMAX network rollouts around the corner (still waiting for more details there), it’s nice to see more WiMAX consumer devices queued up for market launch. Motorola adds to the list today with a new WiMAX USB adaptor for laptops, the Motorola USBw 100. Remember when we used to get external wireless cards for our laptops to use with Wi-Fi networks? This is the same idea, except we’re talking about mobile broadband now. You won’t need a hotspot. Instead, entire cities will be lit up with WiMAX connectivity. The USBw 100 will let you tap into the network everywhere it’s active.
Details:
- Three versions available for WiMAX networks operating on different frequencies – 2.3GHz, 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz
- Includes “multiple antenna technology” for increased reception
- Expected to be available in the fourth quarter
