The quarterly earnings reports have been less than fun of late, but in the good news column, the Motorola Home and Networks Mobility business continues to perform well. Operating margins are up, and Motorola shipped 4.7 million “digital entertainment devices” (i.e. set-tops) in Q4 this year compared to 3.4 million in the fourth quarter of last year.
Other highlights:
- Motorola shipped more than 1.2 million non-IP HD set-tops
- Shipments included more than 1.2 million IPTV set-tops
- Shipments of optical network terminals (ONTs) rocketed up to well over 144,00 in Q4 compared to a bit over 77,000 in Q3
(think fiber-to-the-home deployments)
