Mobile World Congress kicked off today, and to set the scene, here’s a video of Motorola touring the streets of Barcelona in an LTE-equipped shuttle. Well, it’s not so much the shuttle that is equipped, as parts of the city of Barcelona that are decked out in an LTE network. Motorola deployed the network over the last two weeks specifically for mobile broadband demonstrations throughout the conference. Hey, it worked for WiMAX, right?
The video shows streaming HD video in the shuttle including a live LTE handover. The vehicle also connects live to the Motorola MWC booth (A159, Hall 8). Other demos at the booth:
- LTE video streaming using Motorola’s headend solutions
- An interactive comparison showing LTE’s quality of service
- A UMTS-to-LTE handoff
Motorola also has a full press kit with a link to photos for more Mobile World Congress coverage.
