Bob Larribeau over at the TelecomView analyst firm has posted some new numbers on global IPTV activity. Including Verizon, which uses a hybrid QAM/IP network architecture, Larribeau lists five IPTV providers worldwide with one million subscribers or more. They include:
- Free in France
- Verizon
- China Telecom
- France Telecom
- AT&T
Larribeau also estimates that there are 20 million IPTV subscribers globally. Given that Broadband Forum claimed 15.5 million subscribers as of last July, it looks like the IPTV market is growing at a healthy rate, albeit only in certain regions of the world.
