
Motorola created a bandwidth calculator tool several years ago that I’ve referenced a couple of times in the past. However, despite my own excitement over the tool, it’s never gotten much attention outside of Motorola’s customer base. Until last week. Stacey Higginbotham over at GigaOM shares my enthusiasm for the bandwidth calculator and referenced it in a post on Friday about the bandwidth required for TV Everywhere initiatives. The full post is worth a read and includes substantial commentary from Motorola’s Floyd Wagoner.
If you want to check out the calculator and plug in your own numbers, it’s now available online. You can change variables for penetration and concurrency, among others, and determine how much bandwidth is needed for different broadband services.
