LTE Road Trip in Sweden… with Live TV

Motorola LTE van Sweden

Remember those live LTE networks Motorola set up at Mobile World Congress and CTIA earlier this year? Well, the road trip has moved on to Sweden. Motorola is giving mobile demos to Scandinavian operators in the company’s well-traveled LTE van. In addition to standard Internet and video streaming, the drive also now includes the first ever demonstration of live TV broadcast over an LTE network.

In lieu of taking a flight over to Kista Sweden to see the network in action myself, I’ve happily gotten my hands on some pics of the demo-in-a-van and posted them below. The LTE network supporting the demo drive includes two Motorola LTE eNodeBs running on commercial hardware. The network is operating at 2.6 GHz and is integrated with Motorola’s backhaul and evolved packet core (EPC) products. It was deployed in only ten days.

See the tricked-out van below.
