Motorola reported quarterly earnings today. Among the highlights for the Home part of the business:
Shipped 3.1 million digital entertainment devices- Announced QIP eco-friendly set-top boxes for Verizon FiOS™ customers
- Introduced innovative 3DTV set-tops for cable, significantly enhancing 3D experience for consumers
- Strengthened North America position and secured wins with four customers to support the delivery of ultra-broadband triple play services
There was also an interesting note in the investor presentation stating that “sales of video and access infrastructure accounted for approximately 25% of overall Home sales and were up from a year ago.” In other words, what is still often considered “the set-top business” actually gains a significant amount of revenue from sales of wireline infrastructure gear including PON and CMTS equipment.
The full investor presentation is available here. Note that Motorola is no longer publishing quarterly shipment updates on an aggregate basis. If you have questions or would like to discuss gaining access to the specific product area shipment data, please contact Kathy Wiesner at k.wiesner@motorola.com.
