Motorola held a webinar with CED Magazine yesterday “Passive Optical LAN-Latest Shift in LAN technology.” Jeff Heynen, Directing Analyst, Broadband Access, Infonetics, opened up the webinar discussing the tremendous growth in GPON technology as well as how enterprises are investing heavily in switches and by 2014 the expectation is worldwide revenue will reach $24 billion.
Dave Burns, Director, Channel Management and Distribution, Motorola Mobility discussed the importance to the service provider including allowing operators to easily leverage their triple play solution; ability to manage customer experience down to individual Ethernet port; enabling MSOs easy interconnect to customer’s building or campus and the opportunity to access to new markets without having to learn the structured cabling business.
Deployed worldwide today, POL provides enterprises with the ability to rapidly address their evolving LAN requirements while simplifying the enterprise LAN and reducing total life cycles.
As a refresher, benefits of Motorola’s POL solution include:
- Rapid ROI and lower TCO than copper-based LANs
- Easy installation and operation
- Highly secure
- All-fiber reliability
- Green factor- Reduced impact on the environment as a small enterprise can potentially reduce LAN energy dependency by up to 40 percent and a large enterprise by potentially 60 percent using Motorola’s POL solution
