2010 was a big year for IPTV. The industry saw the launch of 40 telco IPTV offerings bringing the number of IPTV services up and running to more than 200. Last year the number of IPTV subscribers reached more than 45 million and showed 38% growth, according to Telegeography.
This is tremendous news and gives the industry a reason to be even more positive about the future of IPTV. As we look forward to IP&TV World Forum 2011, it is clear that IPTV is becoming a reality across a diverse array of markets and geographies with new services redefining the future of the market. This year’s event will be another opportunity to debate where IPTV is headed and what challenges the industry faces. From the infrastructure side, operators need to find affective solutions to meet high capacity bandwidth demands while for users an enhanced customer experience is all important.
IPTV World Forum brings together key players from across all aspects of the IPTV ecosystem including content owners and distributors, network operators, software platforms and infrastructure vendors. It is comprehensive meeting stakeholders in a vibrant and growing market. IPTV is not standing still as these challenges are met.
With the number of IPTV services growing, offerings are becoming more diversified and overall IPTV World Forum will be an opportunity to see all of the different directions IPTV is heading in. The emergence of converged media with social networking being integrated into the viewing experience as well as new multiscreen strategies mean that the opportunities to reach viewers with unique content services is greater than ever.
