There is no better place than the Pew Research site for instant-gratification facts and figures. To head into the weekend, here are a few digi-tech items for pondering:
- Nine states currently support recycling programs that take care of the waste from old electronic gear: California, Maine, Maryland, Washington, Minnesota, Connecticut, Oregon and Texas.
- According to the Pew Internet Project’s February 2007 survey, 47% of American adults have broadband at home, up from 24% three years earlier.
- A February Pew survey found that 71% of American adults use the Internet; 71% of men and 70% of women.
- 19% of Americans have wireless networks in their homes. (Guesses on how many are secure?)
And finally, if you’re wondering about your technology typology (and who isn’t?), Pew has an online quiz for you. Find out if you’re an “omnivore”, a “productivity enhancer”, a “lackluster veteran” or something else entirely….
